John Beye

John grew up in Southeast Wisconsin and has always had a love for nature and wild places. As the son of two teachers, childhood summers were spent on the lakes of Northern Wisconsin or by piling into the family van with his parents and sister to explore the national parks of the West. These formative years led John to the University of Wisconsin, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with an emphasis on People/Environment Interaction.

Following graduation, John moved to South Africa to teach in a rural township school and lead an after-school surf camp for his students. This time in Africa inspired him to build a career aimed at helping people of all ages and abilities connect with nature and adventure. Upon returning to the States, John pursued a joint Master’s certificate and degree in Environmental Education and Sustainable Tourism from Teton Science Schools and Colorado State University, respectively.

For the past decade, John has helped connect students and travelers to some of the most beautiful places in the world including the Indian Himalaya, Norway, Alaska’s Kenai Fjords, Glacier National Park, New England in the fall, the deserts of Southwest Utah, and of course many years in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. While he has worked and traveled extensively, the ecological magic of one of the largest nearly intact temperate ecosystems on Earth is hard to shake and he is thrilled to be calling Jackson Hole home.

In his free time you can look for John in the high peaks of the Tetons as an avid skier, rock climber, and overall outdoor enthusiast with a love for all things adventure.

John is a certified Wilderness First Responder and avalanche educator, and is an AMGA apprentice ski guide.
