Drew first developed a deep connection to the natural world playing in the creeks and woods of southern Ohio. Childhood summers in Northern Michigan, canoe trips to Canada in high school, and a NOLS semester in Alaska during college further instilled a love of nature and the adventures it afforded. These experiences, in turn, led Drew to guiding whitewater rafting trips on waters throughout the Mountain West, including the Colorado, Green, and Salmon rivers. After attending Ohio Wesleyan University, he earned his Masters of American History at Montana State University, focusing on the human history of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) and the origins of the American Conservation movement. Additionally, Drew took part in an environmental education graduate residency at Teton Science Schools in Grand Teton National Park. It was here that he found a passion for the ecology (and the birds!) of this special place. A founding faculty member of a place-based independent school in Jackson Hole, Drew spent over twenty years teaching high school history, environmental studies, and outdoor leadership before coming to work at JH EcoTour Adventures. He believes one of the many benefits of living and working in the GYE is the opportunity to learn something new about this beautiful and complex environment each and every day. In his free time, Drew likes to read, look for birds, and spend time with his family on any body of water or around a fire pit.
Drew is a certified Wilderness First Responder, certified Wyoming Naturalist, and a certified University of Wyoming outdoor guide.
