Born and raised within throwing distance of New York City, Kelsey’s exposure to the outdoors came from family camping trips, summer camp, Girl Scout activities, and time spent playing in her backyard. She pursued a B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of New Hampshire, where she designed her own thesis comparing the performance differences between numerous trail camera brands and models. Her findings were published in the 2015 issue of the Wildlife Society Bulletin.
After college, Kelsey traveled the world and worked with a variety of wildlife species along the way. She studied snappers in New Zealand, pumas and ocelots in Costa Rica, and leopards and caracals in South Africa. She also worked as a field technician for numerous government agencies, studying scaled quail in Oklahoma, deer in Pennsylvania and Maryland, elk in Missouri, and wolves in Idaho. She has lived in the Rocky Mountain region since the fall of 2016 and doesn’t miss New York in the slightest.
In her free time, Kelsey pursues her rock climbing passion; she can almost always be found hanging off a rock wall somewhere. She is certified as a climbing instructor with the American Mountain Guides Association and loves teaching others a new skill. When she’s not climbing, she spends her time mountain biking, backpacking, trail running, or skiing.
Kelsey is a certified Wilderness First Responder and a University of Wyoming certified Outdoor Guide.
