Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Ben discovered his love for the outdoors by exploring the many nature preserves surrounding his Central Texas hometown. Upon leaving Texas, Ben received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Oklahoma State University, where he spent two years as an undergraduate researching bluegill fish toxicology and environmental biomonitoring. After graduation, he began traveling around the public lands of America and beyond, and immediately felt drawn to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem after his first trip to the region in 2016. Since then, he has been immersed in the Teton range, exploring the surrounding wilderness areas as often as he can. Additional time spent in Kenya and Iceland only further solidified his appreciation of remote intact ecosystems and ever-changing geological wonders, so it’s no surprise he was drawn to the wild spaces of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, where he has chosen to live and guide trips with Jackson Hole EcoTour Adventures.
Ben places great value in understanding the wildlife that calls this special place home while also utilizing, protecting, and learning about the various lands that encompass this ecosystem. Early fall is Ben’s favorite season in the parks because of the wildlife ruts, aspen colors, and alpine climate. Climbing, winter sports, and photography are just a few of his favorite pastimes in the valley when he is not guiding trips.
Ben is a certified Wilderness First Responder and a certified University of Wyoming Outdoor Guide.
