Itinerary

Yellowstone & Grand Teton Multi Day Wildlife Tour

Meet your guide early for fresh french press coffee and a light breakfast as we catch the first rays of light illuminating the Teton Mountain Range.  We’ll scan the mountainsides for elk and black bears and check for moose and eagles along the Gros Ventre River as we explore the Jackson Hole Valley.

At Oxbow Bend of the Snake River, we will scan for waterfowl, eagles, otters, and beavers, with the iconic Mount Moran filling up the skyline to the west.  Grizzly bears frequent the open meadows and forests of this area, we’ll also be on the lookout for sandhill cranes, mule deer, diverse songbirds, and even wolves.

Next we head north along Jackson Lake, departing Grand Teton and entering the world’s first National Park, Yellowstone. After catching an eruption of Old Faithful, we’ll have an option for a two mile hike through the Upper Geyser Basin or a possible hike to the Grand Prismatic Overlook before retiring to the nearby town of West Yellowstone, MT for the night.

Lodging - Gray Wolf Inn or Similar

Meals - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We start our 2n day along the Madison River searching for bison, elk, waterfowl, and other wildlife.  Heading north, our next destination is a walk through the Mammoth Terraces and historic Fort Yellowstone.  The US Military built this campus starting in the late 1800’s before management turned over to the National Park Service in 1919.

We’ll break for lunch in the famous Lamar Valley, where wolves were successfully reintroduced in 1995 (learn more about the 25th anniversary here).  This wildlife hotspot is also famous for its massive bison herds, pronghorn antelope, coyotes, birds of prey and other wildlife species.

Tonight we retire to the rugged mountain town of Silvergate, MT, just outside the National Park’s NE boundary, surrounded by the Beartooth Mountain Range.

Lodging - Silver Gate, MT

Meals - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Enjoy French Press Coffee and breakfast on the go as we head towards wolf viewing hotspots in the Lamar Valley. Our route takes us beneath the massifs of Barronette Peak and the Thunderer, home to mountain goats who thrive high above the valley floor.  As we follow Soda Butte Creek into the Lamar Valley we’ll also be on the lookout for otters, moose, bison, elk, and grizzly bears.

Heading back into the park’s interior, we’ll head to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, taking in the awe inspiring 308’ tall Lower Falls with the option for some hiking opportunities to check out other views of this natural wonder.  We’ll scan for wildlife in the Hayden Valley before reaching Yellowstone Lake, one of the 7 largest high elevation lakes in the world.

The lakeside hot springs of West Thumb Geyser Basin await us for one last opportunity to view thermal features.  In the afternoon we return to Grand Teton National Park for an evening wildlife safari before concluding our trip in Jackson.
